Conference Weekend

The kids eating a gourmet dinner of peanut butter and jelly or honey sandwiches at our rented house in Draper.
We spent Conference Weekend in Salt Lake with my sister-in-law and her family. We had an amazing time and did many fun things and many fun nothings which was great. We spent Friday at Cornbelly's (look at the last blog for more info on that) and then spent the rest of the time at a rented house in the hills of Draper. Saturday we watched morning conference and then did some much needed shopping. We bought all the kids winter coats (this turned out to be a better investment then I originally thought, due to the fact that it's suppose to snow today and tomorrow) ate lunch, and then did a little more shopping with Kingstons.
While Kenny and Ben were in the store trying to replace Ben's broken sandals, the girls and I were waiting in the car. Hannah wasn't happy so took her picture trying to make her happy. It didn't work!
Gracie sure liked getting her picture taken though. She's recently learned to smile for the camera and she loves pulling funny faces as well.

Sarah had to get in on the action. She's great at pulling faces.

We then headed back to the house to nap the kids and let them play. Kenny made caramel apples for everyone. They were really chewy and the kids enjoyed dipping the apples in sugar more than eating them. I always thought caramel apples looked and sounded better than they tasted. Getting through the caramel was always such a challenge. I guess it's one of those things you do for the memories not for the final product.

Ben ate the most apple out of all of my kids.

Hannah rolling her caramel apple in sugar. Aren't we the best parents, caramel apples rolled in sugar, YUM!

I had to include this picture of Maddi with her caramel apple. She enjoyed her apple the most because it helped her lose one of her teeth.

We had fun experimenting with the caramel. We didn't stop with just apples. We made caramel covered marshmallow and white chocolate colored marshmallows. It was a lot of fun and it sure looks like we're healthy (don't worry we barely ate any of it.)

That night we put the kids to bed and the adults plus Nikki (she's 14 and doesn't pass for one of the little kids anymore) stayed up way to late playing Settlers. I love that game and actually one once which made it that much cooler.

BenBen got the new Batman Lego video game as a treat for being the only boy. We were so impressed with how willing he was to share it. All the kids tried it, but Gabbi liked it the best.

I love watching kids sleep. We put 5 kids in one room. One bunk bed had Ben on top and Alli on bottom. . .

The other bunk bed had Gabbi on top and Sarah Kate and Missi on bottom.

Sunday morning we woke up in a cloud, literally. Kenny and the kids watched the cloud float in and engulf us. The kids loved going outside and standing in the cloud. Later we watched the morning session of conference and cleaned the house. We had to wash all the sheets and dishes, remake the beds, clean the bathrooms and all the other rooms. It was time consuming, but well worth it. We really had fun in that 6 bedroom house. We missed dinner at my parents house due to the prolonged cleaning of the rented house. We felt very bad about that, but were glad we were able to help clean. It was a great trip and we've decided we need to do it again next year.

I don't know of many things cuter than 7 little kids laying on the ground watching conference. What good kids we have!
