Boise Reunion Day 1

Getting ready for our tubing trip.

Kenny's family reunion was in Boise this year. We weren't able to make it to the entire thing, but we did go Friday afternoon and stayed through Saturday. It was a lot of fun to see so many Holderness family members and to do some fun things with family. The first thing we did when we arrived was float the river in Emmett. Being as pregnant as I am I didn't know how easy it would be to float, but we used the tube that we pull behind the wave runner and our rubber boat and it was a very pleasant trip. Actually I really enjoyed it and I'd love to go again. We opted to leave Dan with Grandma Newbry. We missed him and given the easiness of the float we wished we had brought him with us, but it was probably better he didn't come. The other kids enjoyed it in there own little way. Sarah was, well 8, she was sad that none of the older cousins came and pouted through most of the ride. Ben had a lot of fun playing in the water and did finally jump in with dad. The water was cold and he was unsure of what he had done, but in the end he was glad the went in. Hannah took a little while to warm up to the idea of the float. She, being our most motherly one and the one that protects everyone, had to keep a close eye on Gracie and always tried to hold on to her life jacket. She did calm down about half way through the float and when she joined me in the wave runner float she even seemed to be having fun. Gracie was, well, Gracie. She loved the water and tried to play in it over the side of the boat (hence the freak out by Hannah.) She even went head first in the water at one point, but that didn't stop her. She had a lot of fun and only towards the end started showing signs of needing a nap. At the end of the float Kenny road with his cousin to get the van and I stayed behind with the kids. They played in the mud and had almost as much fun waiting for Daddy as they had floating the river. It was definitely a successful outing and it's something we'll have to do again next year (with me less pregnant.)
Again, I didn't take many pictures. This is one of Ben helping Daddy get the tubes on the trailer.

After the float we went to Aunt Janet and Uncle Jim's to change. Kenny, Sarah Kate, and Ben picked cherry's off the tree while I got the kids dressed and ready to go. We then headed back to Boise for a cookout at Kenny's cousin Becky's house. This is where we were able to see most of the family and do a little visiting. It was so nice to see everyone and we had a great time catching up with people and watching our kids play with cousins. We were fortunate enough to be able to sleep at Becky and Dave's house. They were wonderful hosts and we enjoyed their company very much. Not only that, but after our many trips to Boise, our kids have become fast friends with their kids. We were very grateful for a place to stay and for the fun we had with them.
