Grandparents Day

The picture taken at the school for Grandparents Day. Apparently blue was the theme for our family that day. :)

Friday, October 9th was Grandparents Day at the school. Both my Mom and Dad made the drive up to have lunch with Sarah and watch her program. Grandma and Grandpa Newbry couldn't make it because, surprisingly enough, they were in Disneyland. The kids were sad, but what can you do. My parents came up on Thursday night and spent the night to make sure they were here for the 10:45 meeting at the school. Grandma and Grandpa arrived at school on time, but because of a conflict with school pictures (I bet the don't do school pictures the same day as Grandparents Day again next year) Sarah's class was unable to do their presentation. Instead, Grandma and Grandpa just got to see Sarah's classroom and then they were off to lunch.

Because of half day kindergarten, the kindergarten classes don't participate in Grandparents Day, but lucky for Ben, his class was getting out of school about 5 minutes after Sarah's class left for lunch. I decided to go meet Ben as he was getting out of class and take him to the lunchroom to be with Grandma and Grandpa. They had just sat down to eat, but the lunch line was huge so instead of Ben eating lunch with them he just ate their brownies, which was fine with him. I left him there and headed home. While I was gone the kids showed Grandma and Grandpa their classrooms, teachers, and some of their work, until Sarah's class started again and the PM kindergarten started school.

Playing the kids new favorite game with Grandma. Who doesn't love Go Fish!

After getting back home Grandma and Grandpa took the kids (minus Sarah who was still at school) and I to McDonald's. The kids were in heaven playing on the toys and eating (kind of) happy meals. After lunch we went to Toys-r-us so Grandma could by Gracie's birthday present. Gracie got a big girl bed just like Hannah's from Grandma and Grandpa this year and she absolutely loves it. After the toy store we came home, had the little girls nap for a short while we waited for Sarah to get home from school. When the girls woke up Kenny and Grandpa built Gracie's bed, with the help of Gracie and Hannah, while Grandma played Go Fish with Ben and Sarah. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

I think Hannah was more excited about the bed than Gracie was. Maybe that's because she understood it better than Gracie.

Thanks Grandma!

After putting the bed together Grandma and Grandpa asked the kids where they wanted to go eat for dinner. You don't even have to bother asking my kids, they'll always say Chuck-a-rama (they LOVE that place) so that's where we went. The kids had a great time, ate a lot, and really enjoyed being with Grandma and Grandpa. After dinner they drove back home and we went home to put the kids to bed. It was so nice having Grandma and Grandpa come up for the day. Thanks for making the special trip.

I love her little bed! How cute. It sounds like a great day. It's always nice to visit with grandparents. :)
