Cookout for the Birthday Boy

On a whim, which is typically how Kenny and I do things, we decided it would be fun to head up Millcreek Canyon on Adam's birthday and have a cookout.  Of course we had to find someone to join us so we called Kenny's sisters and lucky for us they agreed to, spur of the moment, head up the canyon with us.  We left around 3 and quickly realized the finding a picnic area in Millcreek Canyon the end of August is not the easiest thing in the world.  Long story short, we drove forever trying to find an open picnic area.  April and JJ had a hard time finding us and when Mindy and I went to find them Lilly threw up in the car.  By the time we all found each other and started cooking it was getting dark and storm clouds were rolling it.  We ate a quick dinner and then everyone packed up to leave   It wasn't the wonderful, relaxing family adventure that we had envisioned  but it was still fun.  Next time we'll have to plan better and I'm hoping there will be many next times next year.
