Holderness University Day 3

The 3rd and final day of the Holderness University was on Sunday so we began it with our own church service, of sorts. It was nice to hear talks and testimonies from individual family members. After church there we more classes to attend. This day we got to choose from cartooning, monster stuffing/making, birdhouse making, kite flying, and parachuting, to name a few. It was another great and successful day.

Making a birdhouse.
Ben and Travis learning how to cartoon.
Getting ready to stuff monsters.
Displaying the monsters the kids made.

After a full day of class it was time for graduation. The kids and so much fun getting their diploma's from Grandma Holderness. It was so fun to watch and I really think Grandma enjoyed all the hugs and kisses from the kids.

Waiting for the graduation to began.

I love this picture of these crazy tweens. They had a lot of fun
 hanging out together all weekend.

Holderness University Day 2

The first full day of the Holderness University began with a group photo and then we all broke into our first day of classes. I was fortunate to teach the Super Hero class first thing in the morning and I had some great kids in my class. My mother-in-law made some capes for all the students and we began class by creating our own masks. They were a hit and the kids were all very creative. After we got our masks and capes on we headed over to train like a real super hero at the obstacle course.

We made art out of the things we found in nature and geo caching. There was cheerleading, dancing, singing, hula dancing and other things activities to choose from. It was a fun and very full day. My in-laws worked really hard on this reunion and it came together so well.

Making art with the nature stuff we collected.
Riding scooters with cousins. Perfect day!
We had a Hawaiian lunch that was delicious.
Can you tell Gracie had a fantastic day?
After dinner we had a chance to show everyone the things we'd learned during the day. Groups took to the stage and performed for the entire family. We saw the cheerleaders, hula dancers, super hero's, and other groups. It was fun to watch the kids enjoy preforming for family.

Grandma Holderness and her 8 kids.
We closed the evening with a bridal shower for Nikki and lots of talking. It was a wonderful way to end a wonderful, busy day.

Holderness Reunion Day 1

My in-laws were in charge of the reunion this year my mother-in-law created the entire thing around the old school we stayed at. She created the Holderness University complete with classes, activities and a graduation. She put so much work into it and it was amazing. Here are a few highlights of the weekend.

We finally made it to Albion, Idaho and the Holderness reunion a couple of hours late. We almost missed dinner, but were glad we made it. We got to our "room" (we were supposed to camp but because of our broken trailer we couldn't bring any of our stuff so we slept in a sitting room in the house) ate dinner and played in the flag football game.

Holderness Reunion: The Last Day

The hikers
The last day of the Holderness reunion was another day packed with fun for everyone. Kenny led the kids on a hike and Stormy showed everyone how to make survival bracelets. We enjoyed taco salad from the Newbry's for lunch and a "How well do you know your family" game made up by Grandma. Of course, there was lots of family time and we even got visited by a snake, which the kids thought was awesome.

Hiking up one of the ski  slopes.
Ben enjoyed the hike.
Taya decided she really liked Sarah. Sarah was so good to help and play with her.
Playing Grandma's games.
Making bracelets.
Lunch by the Newbry (again)
Hanging out with Annie, rocking our glasses.
Not much better than cousins and giant bubbles.
Hannah showing off our snake friend.
My little boys were having fun wrestling and Tate watched them for a long
time. Finally he decided it looked like fun and went to join them.
We really enjoyed the Holderness reunion this year and can't wait for the next one. It went by too fast and these pictures don't do it justice, but they're all I have.  :)

Running and Swimming Holderness'

The 5k runners.
The morning of the third day began with a 5k by those willing and crazy enough to get up early and run. This is the first 'Fun Run' that I've participated in over the years and I'll admit it was a lot of fun. I think I'll maybe get up for the next one too. Maybe.

Sleeping Girls
We spent the morning sleeping in and hanging out in the lodge with family members. It was a great day.

Grandma and Hannah
Lunch was provided by the Newbry's again. We had great sack lunch options for our trip to the lake.

Making sack lunches for the trip to Bear Lake.
After everyone made sack lunches we all headed to Bear Lake for a day in the sun. It wasn't the warmest of days, but it was plenty warm for some digging in the sand and playing a little in the water.

Adam having fun in the sand.
Gracie playing with cousins Lilly and Carlie
Ben had a lot of fun taking a turn on Uncle Patrick's canoe.
Adam playing the hole Daddy created.
Sarah getting dirty
Dan playing in the sand.
Beautiful Hannah
Ben just hanging out.
Adam and Dan enjoyed the canoe as well.
Goofy Gracie being, well, Gracie
We had a lot of fun at Bear Lake and left just in time. A nasty wind storm kicked up about 10 minutes after we left. We were lucky enough to enjoy the wind and rain from inside our car. We headed back to Beaver Mountain and enjoyed a great dinner provided by Bruce and Nancy and some more fun family time. It was a great day.

Saying bye to April. They had to leave early.
